These were self-reliant, proud and respectful urban cow\u00adboys. They were called hoboes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Hoboes traveled far and they traveled light. They jour\u00adneyed all over to work, and developed a system of signs to provide information, warnings and directions to other hoboes. These signs, or symbols, made traveling easier, safer and smarter. Nowadays, the word \u201chobo\u201d represents other things. But it still means being travel-wise and in\u00addependent.
